Hello from a cold and rain swept Newmarket, Im sorry I havent posted for a while but since I got back to the Uk I got a virus in my PC and didnt have it for a few weeks and Ive been busy training into a new job. Shifts are all very strange but while Im here at night as I am now, its 3.30am right now, I have internet access so Ill try and catch up with some blogging.
My husband Fikret has just passed his Skills for Life test and I know there must be loads of you girls out there who know what Im talking about and understand the strain it puts on a relationship, as if there wasnt enough strain as it is. Fikret is a good studier thank goodness. Last year he paid for and started attending ESOL classes, this in itself was a pain and an annoyance as it seemed that lots of other countries didnt have to pay to attend but of course the Turks do. Anyway he paid and started attending and was doing ok for the five or six weeks he went, but then the powers that be decided that there was not enough people attending so they cancelled! That was round about Christmas and we are still waiting for a refund of his money, despite several e mails, and to think they wouldnt let him through the door until he had paid for the full course. Nevertheless he decided to book his Skills for Life Test and then for three days before he attended it he booked holidays from work and spent every waking hour studying both on his own and with me helping him and explaining and translating things he didnt understand. But you know I dont think I could get through this test, how many of us, us being born and bred English, how many of us know everything about proportional representation, first passed the post politics? The English, Welsh and Scottish parliaments and weird statistics! Anyway hes wonderful and passed first time, which is secretly great but his head is now the size of a weather balloon as he passed his driving theory test his practical test and now this test first time. But as any of you going through this will know its just as well as the cost of all these things is becoming crazy. Now Ive started looking at his Indefinite Leave to Remain visa and that another £750.00 off I say offfff...
I know this is clearly one of my "serious" posts but have to get this off my chest as the British Government really do seem to make it as hard and as expensive as they can for the Turks to enter and stay in the UK when it seems to willingly open its doors to many many other nationalities.
Now Im back to posting hopefully on a regular basis Ill tell you some of the funny things Ive encountered here amongst the small Turkish community and the funny things I see in general at my new job. Im working in the control room of a vehicle breakdown recovery company and its one of the hardest if not THE hardest job Ive ever had. SO watch this spot for the mistakes Im bound to make which I will honestly report back to you.
Sorry to moan but Im sure there are a lot of girls out there going through the same thing with their husbands as Fikret and I and I wish us all the luck.. Nite nite
